The Welcome Festival was the first festival of this kind at Startblok. It was quite a small festival if you would compare it to other festivals in Amsterdam, but it was a nice step for the residents to get know each other. To meet between different cultures and habits from different nationalities.
In the beginning of the festival it was a bit quiet, but after the music started, this changed. There were different activities and main points at the festival: from music made by our own residents to DJ-music where everybody was jumping and dancing, to sumo wrestling in a costume to a market with clothes and other stuff.
Music, fun and dancing are things which gather and unite people. I think this is great, because it goes without thinking about differences between nationalities or anything else. It was beautiful to see the initiatives from residents at Startblok, that was a nice addition to the festival.
It was a nice festival and I hope that in the future more people will come so we can have more interaction between different nationalities and cultures. I enjoyed a lot!
